Welcome

St Margarets is a friendly local badminton club, always happy to accept new players of moderate and advanced standard.

St Margarets play on Monday and Friday nights, starting at 8pm.   At present, we have room for players on Friday nights only   (However, if you can play only on Mondays, then please ring Rachel on 07534 959 214 in case of an unexpected vacancy or two.)

Wiseton Hall is a converted church hall and the club fees reflect this, currently £3 per evening or only £14 per month for eight evenings (which includes feathered shuttlecocks.)

We play at Wiseton Hall, Wiseton Road, London SW17 7EE (off Bellevue Road), within easy reach of the South London localities of Balham, Tooting, Wandsworth and Clapham, though some players travel from farther afield. (Cheuk actually comes from Hong Kong!)

Directions
Wiseton Road is a short, residential street.
Wiseton Hall is the building in which we play.
It is situated midway along the street and can be identified by its tall, black iron gates (generally left open). Please park in the street. If you can't find a space, try adjoining streets.
(Please don't park within the perimeter of the building. It is not allowed and Brian, the caretaker, who is most interested in such matters, may wish to discuss it with you in his rather loud and frenzied manner.)
As you pass through the gates and into the courtyard, you will see, on your right, a large sign for badminton. Ascend the stairs and you will find yourself in the Badminton hall, amongst friends.
Our current members are a mixed bunch, ranging from ex-county players (resting) to those of club-standard and improvers.

Matches     This year St. Margarets Badminton team are competing in the the Sutton and District League. We are fielding a mixed team of six players.

Home matches are played at Woodmansterne Village Hall , Carshalton Road, Woodmansterne, Surrey.

History     The club was formed back in 1947 by Bob Emberon, one-time Chairman of the All England Badminton Club, together with his wife Olive.     We are named after St Margaret's Church in Cricklade Avenue, Streatham, London SW16, where we used to play our matches. Sadly no more.
Our present venue, Wiseton Hall is home to several businesses during the day. In the evening, it accomodates a variety of sports clubs.

Social Activities     We attend the All England Badminton Championships each year at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham - only as spectators, at the moment.
